Masthead Mocks

This is my first group of variations for my mast head. My favorite variation is the bottom blue and black.
This is my second group of variations. I didn't feel this worked as well as the last ones because it doesn't reflect the chosen genre.
This was what it would look as my masthead with the added Jazz and Blues because there is no way that the title connotes the genre.

This is one possible font i will be using for by splash. I like this one becasue it looks like the font from 'Where the wild things are'

This is a variation font, but i do not like this one as much.

With these two i am deciding where to have the splash placed.

Posible people for photos

Model one... Mark
I chose Mark becasue he has the old jazz man look, with the beard and grey hair. I felt he fitted in with the genre of the magazine because of the unkempt, disheveled aesthetic.

Model two... Aisha
I chose Aisha becasue she has a very individual, and adaptable look. I feel she pulls off the old jazz look well and that's one of the unknown genres i wanted to cover with my magazine.

Model three... Me (Jamie-ash)
I thought me becasue i know exactly what type of pose and shot i want. The issue does arise of how i will take the photo whilst also being the feature of it. so for this reason i will not be chosen.

Quick Pitch Questions

  1. Do you think that my genre is well chosen? Why?
  2. Do you agree with my target audience age range? Why ?
  3. What magazine name was your favorite? For what reason?
  4. Are there any other areas you think my magazine should cover?
  5. Do you feel my house style reflects the chosen genre? If so why? If not why?

The answer to weather my genre was well chosen was primarily that it was well chosen becasue they thought 'it's different to any other publications at the moment'. I also asked weather they agreed with my target audience age range and why and the main answer i got back was the 16 to 36 is quite a wide age range and so maybe i should change it to 16 to 26. For the magazine name question i got the answer jukebox twice and crossroads once, i feel i am going to use crossroads becasue the reason given was the best, Alex said it was 'different and this reflects the chosen genre'. They couldn't think of anything that i have missed out that my magazine could cover. Finally i asked if my magazine's house style reflected the chosen genre and they said yes to that so everything i feel is in place.
